We just keep circling around the same questions of could Adnan have done it? Does he have it in him? Adnan admitted to stealing some money in 8th grade from the mosque’s weekly prayer service but that doesn’t have to do with the case. Others on the other hand said he stole money from the mosque. A few of Adnan’s fellow community members said he really was nice and charming and respected. Some of them went on tape with their name and voice changed, however.

People from the mosque were usually afraid to speak about Adnan on tape because their Muslim community would not approve of it. Is he a psychopath? Is he down to earth? Is he manipulating those around him? These questions get asked every week and yet the answers depends on who you talk to. It’s all about what people think of Adnan. I feel like Sarah has been over this time and time again.
Serial podcast episode 9 genius serial#
The second to last episode of Serial confronted rumors surrounding Adnan. This is my best guess but the only person who could ever give the true story is the real killer. Jay said he was afraid of someone involved in the murder and I think that someone was the real murderer who was threatening Jay unless he told the cops the fake story. I think one of Jay’s bad friends killed Hae and then held something over Jay’s head until he agreed to testify and say that it was Adnan. The only thing Jay knew that makes him credible was where Hae’s car was and someone easily could’ve told him that on fact. So after 12 weeks of listening to the case here is what I think happened: I think that Adnan was set up. When asked if he’d like the DNA tested in his case, Adnan said, “There’s nothing about my case that I’m afraid of.”
Serial podcast episode 9 genius update#
Sarah also gave an update on the UVA Law Students who were looking into Adnan’s case and said they were able to appeal to the court to get the DNA in the case tested, such as the DNA under Hae’s fingernails, to see if it matched anyone. She talked to a past coworker of Jay who said he remembers Jay being afraid of the people associated with the murder but he never named Adnan specifically. This strikes me as what a normal person would do when a cop calls to ask if you had seen someone who went missing, but obviously this isn’t what Adnan did when he got the call because he still cannot remember what he did that day.Īnyway, Sarah talked more about Adnan’s cell phone call log and the towers that it pinged. He said that the minute the cops called him to ask if he had seen Hae on January 13th he immediately thought back to every thing he did that day and if he saw Hae. Sarah talked to Don, Hae’s boyfriend when she went missing. This episode was really just a bunch of last minute details and tidbits of information before sending the listeners off to think on their own. This was the end of season one of Serial.
